Internal cleanse

Just over a month ago we welcomed the new year, 2018. Many people made resolutions to quit the “same shit different year” cycle and set goals such as weight loss, career development or even improve relationships…I’m sure there are billions more. Recently I found an interest in making smoothies, more specifically detox smoothies. My smoothie journey has been great thus far, but I must admit that I did not quite enjoy every taste thereof. I decided to experiment with ingredients and make it taste much more delicious. [Why do most healthy foods and remedies have to make us irk?  ]

My concoctions are as effective as the well-known smoothies I’ve tried  . Below are two recipes for the smoothies I am in love with at the moment. I alternate between the two on a week to week basis for a bit of a variety.


-1 grapefruit

-1 glass of coconut water

-½ lemon (squeezed or diced)

-2 tablespoons honey (trust, you need it)

-½ banana (optional, based on your taste buds)

-3 ice cubes


-1 apple

-¼ cucumber

-4-5 mint leaves

-1 lemon

-1 glass of water (your preference, I like my smoothie very runny)

-2cm ginger

-1 cup spinach

-1 celery stick

-3 ice cubes

Blend all the ingredients together and enjoy!
